The rainstick originated in Chile and was played in the belief that it could bring about rainstorms. They are traditionally made from cactus, which are hollow and then dried by the sun. The spines are removed, and driven back into the cactus, like nails. Pebbles or other small objects are placed inside the rainstick, and the ends are sealed off. A sound like falling water is made when the rainstick has its direction changed to a vertical position. Our selection of rainsticks are all of original design and made from the cactus in Chile.

The bigger the rainstick

the deeper the sound.
